sweet sweet surprise
I am attached to a husband who has a commitment of 24-7 to his working life. Do not get me wrong. His office is operating 24-7 and the working time is divided in 3 designated shift hours. All these while, the table has been running from either 7am-3pm, 3pm to 11pm and 11pm to 7am daily. The mgmt team has allocated a fixed staff on the 11pm-7am shift all these while of operating. Starting from January 2003, they started to do the alternate hours, means in a year, my partner will at least once have to work on the night shift, 11pm to 7 am.
We never bother about it, because it seems too far away before his time come. Untill this afternoon, he called me up from work. So clever of him to break up a very good news. "insya allah, there's 95% chances of me being promoted. If things runs well, August". I was like very glowing. I know how Jaz has been working very hard to get that promotion, and it will give a very good impact to our household. But the not so pleasant will be he will be taking charge of the 11pm to 7 am shift of working. Can u imagine that?
Gosh, and the other not so pleasant news, when July comes, his current team will be taking over the 11pm to 7am shift. Means double night shift, and will be ongoing till God knows when.
Reaction from me? I am ready for this. Even I never bother to think about this, from the very first day he accepted this job, I know it, one day this situation will come. I only ask for a favor, one simple favor which sounds so easy yet challenging enough to retain, I want the weekend to be free. It must be a total break free for both of us. He say Yes.
Btw, this routine will probably ended in 2004. So, let's pray it will start to be alternate shift operating starting in 2004. So, Jaz will only be on nite shift for 4 months in a yr, instaed of 12 months.
